How to prepare the perfect espresso?
HARISSA Tips and Recipes on Coffee
Whether it’s a single origin or a blend, always choose a quality product with well-balanced organoleptic characteristics for espresso preparation.
Another essential aspect is the cleanliness of the equipment! Coffee contains oils that can build up on equipment, altering the taste of the espresso. Regularly clean the filters, filter holders, and showers with appropriate cleaning agents. Proper maintenance of equipment ensures an espresso free from unwanted flavours. Keeping equipment clean not only enhances the coffee’s taste but also extends the life of the machines. You can do this using non-aggressive agents like vinegar and baking soda.
After allowing (lemon, salt, vinegar, and/or baking soda) to sit for about 30 minutes, descale the tank, rinse thoroughly with water, and dry the machine’s filters well.
If you’re a fan of moka pots, it’s also essential to clean them from time to time. Detach the filter and gasket from the upper part of the pot, soak them in the cleaning solution for 30 minutes, rinse, dry thoroughly, and replace the old gasket with a new one if needed.
The Magic of Freshly Ground Beans!
Once ground, coffee loses over 60% of its aromas in just 20 minutes due to the increased surface exposure to oxygen, which accelerates oxidation and loss of aromatic properties. Therefore, grinding coffee just before preparation is essential to preserve its flavours and high quality.
HARISSA offers a coffee grinding service for our Harissa selection at our locations in Zagreb (HARISSA Kvatrić, HARISSA Arena Centar) and Rijeka (HARISSA Robna Kuća Ri)!
Our ground coffee selection includes: Gran Aroma Espresso Coffee, 250 g, Gran Aroma Moka Coffee, 250 g
And Whole Beans / Bulk Coffee: Oro Cream Coffee, Super Bar Coffee, Super Oro Coffee
High-quality grinders prevent the loss of coffee bean properties, aroma, and fine oils. Using a professional grinder and carefully selected coffee beans is key to ensuring rich and authentic flavours in every cup. The freshness of the grind is crucial for a perfect espresso: coffee must be ground just before extraction to retain the volatile aromas that create the drink’s complex aromatic profile.
To streamline this process, there are espresso capsules, finely ground and vacuum-sealed to preserve freshness, aroma, and quality.
How Is Finely Ground Coffee in Capsules Prepared?
The coffee is ground to a specific fineness suited to the type of capsule, allowing for optimal extraction. The packaging is pressurized and vacuum-sealed to prevent oxidation, ensuring the coffee retains its aroma and taste for a long time.
The capsules are hermetically sealed immediately after filling, preventing air, moisture, and other external factors from impacting the coffee’s flavour.
Outer Foil or Layers: Capsules have an outer plastic or aluminium coating, providing additional protection from light and air, helping preserve freshness. This process allows the capsules to have a long shelf life without sacrificing quality.
In our selection, you’ll find high-quality coffee capsules compatible with Nespresso machines, including: Veronesi Argento - Silver, Veronesi Oro - Gold, Veronesi Rosso - Red
