Black tea in tea bags
INGREDIENTS: black tea, bergamot oil
In 1833, Earl Grey, the Earl of Howick Hall at the time and also the British Prime Minister, suspected a monopoly in tea prices held by the East India Company over the tea trade with China. He decided to import tea directly from China.
The original pure Chinese tea is lightly flavored with fine bergamot oil. The Chinese added oil to the tea to preserve it from the tar and mold flavors it could encounter during the long voyage by ship to England.
As a result, this tea was named Earl Grey, a name it retains to this day.
Earl Grey embodies the finest English tea.
1 pyramid filter bag, 3g each.
