ALLERGENS: nuts, celery and celery products, mustard and mustard products.
Tzatziki or tzadziki is a Greek, Turkish, Iranian, Cypriot appetizer, and sauce for souvlaki and gyros.
Tzatziki is made from strained sheep's or goat's yogurt mixed with fresh cucumbers, garlic, salt, olive oil, pepper, and sometimes lemon juice, dill, mint, or parsley, but there are hundreds of variations.
It is typically eaten with pita bread and makes an excellent dip for vegetable sticks, chicken, lamb, potatoes, and is always served cold.
Preparation recommendation for Tzatziki Dip:
Mix the spice blend with thick yogurt or full-fat sour cream or cream cheese as desired, and season as needed. You can also grate fresh cucumber, but it's a good idea to squeeze it by hand before adding it to the dip to avoid making it too watery. Be careful not to overdo it because the flavors and aromas of the spices gradually develop and intensify over the next few hours.
GOOD for pasta dishes, dips, mozzarella, sauces, salads.
